I've told many times how PotterworldMC is an absolute delight when it comes to dealing with their community.
The last thing I saw was some kind of forms merged with some forums interface dedicated for communities suggestions. The marvelous thing about it is that has a hierarchy structure, where everything is kept clean but also using a rating system (similar to reddit), where the most voted/active suggestions goes to the top. Also, voting requires your email, which means you'll get feedback if the idea becomes popular and the developers decide to work on it. Its absolutely great how can that engage the entire community on making the server a better place for everyone.

    This is their forms:

Is it too hard to implement something like that? Is so much organized, clean and efficient as multiple forums scattered in different categories.

This server is okay with its current format. It's just the fact that the staff here are too confidential with update info and stuff.

What you're suggesting is just honesty with extra steps.

I could be absolutely wrong, but with the little browsing I have done I see very little staff interaction. Yes, buildes are staff (I know I use to stay they weren't.) However - you rarely see anyone higher than a helper say anything on the forums. That is a little disappointing to see. Seeing, let alone talking to a Sr.Mod is rare, and in some cases the same goes for Jr.Mods. I think it would help if an effort was made by the staff team to interact or do events with the community. Again, I could be wrong but that is just what I have seen from my minimal browsing as of recent. thanks.

Yep, they're very limited, but people insists in the 'timezone' argument. I've been online day and night and there's barely online staff these days. Damn even when the last update came out jacob was messing around summoning thunders and another mod were online but in vanishing mode, only a few people were talking to them while others were genuinely asking things about the server. This still pisses me off and made me thinking if this mentality is ever going to change. Don't get me wrong we really appreciate what the community manager did, but he will not be online 24/7 and if the rest of the staff are not willing to attend their users - why should we care?

the timezone argument gets old after a while. They simply want an easy scapegoat to cover any complaints. How do other servers manage?

I've seen two ways of dealing with this:

    1. Strict servers: Things are not perfect but it's a working mechanism, sort of. The rules are strict, you may not have that amount of online staff but if you are recorded breaking any rules (that are A LOT) and mods get the hang of it, you're basically done. It's a mix of heavy server scripts and an 'enforcer' community.

    2. Highly ammount of staff: This is the perfect scenario, where theres a huge, fully operational chain of command. Some staff owners have a clear picture of the game's direction. Within this in mind they can manage different server's aspects, each in it's own staff environment: architects (for building related), game design (for lore and programming issues), moderation (for community related stuff, like ingame, forums, discord etc), media (for social media, artworks, etc), quality assurance etc.
All of these individual positions must be in constant touch with each other and with their respective sr. managers.
The 'backend' staff are free for their work time, while on their deadline. The community ones are scattered in US and UK timezones, to, at least, attend members in two broad wide day times. I've seen staff from places like Italy, Spain, Germany, Russia, Brazil, as long as they can communicate in english they're also very important to spread the staff day time and to help non-english speakers to guide them through the server.

Tbh I don't see any of these scenarios happening here, but at least theres always time to start on redesigning their work and community relations.

I'm not going to lie and not to toot my own horn but I feel since I became community manager suggestions and communications have improved greatly.
Yeah, as I stated this is not particularly about your position, but the other higher staff that could actually feed us some info. I mean, if they were online just messing around it would not hurt to actually listen to those who were online.
This is not the case for those who are willing to trying it. Yesterday the head dev was nicely talking to us at tmdpve, asking if could enlighten us about anything related to his work, we really appreciate this gesture.
