  • Balancing, an Imminent Flame War

    Balancing... And Jugg... AND PAINS, oh boy I can't wait to be crucified for this.

    So basically... I love the idea of making the server lean towards the more realistic. And a part of that makes me feel that two things needs to be done for balancing.

    1. Balancing pains. Pains need to be a one use item, you use em' you gain temporary heals, allowing you to carry on the fight for a while. If you use em' again after that first use you won't gain any more health. As to boost this to make it work for combat, pains would give you your full bar back, temporarily. They would also give you some nausea for a few seconds. Once the health gained from them degrades you can safely take another pains. However, taking too many too quickly will cause you to OD, giving you poison, and wither until you die, or you survive long enough to flush it out of your system.

    2. Armor... Fix the goddamn armor, in real life, normal clothes would provide practically 0 armor, however there is such a thing as a civilian vest, my suggestion is to remove pants, and boots, and instead have vests and helmets until you reach jugg, which has a full armor set. After this you could then use the pants and boots sections for more interesting features... On to balancing! Vests would provide temporary protection highly based on the amount of shots you take. Civilian vest and helmet soaking up 3 hearts of damage a singular time on body and headshots. As real vests do. Police tier vests and helmets soaking up 3 hearts of damage 3 times head and body, and military grade vests and helmets soaking up 3 hearts 4 times. Riot gear would be a full armor set, soaking up 5 hearts 3 times, as well slowing the person's walk speed and making it impossible to use special pants and boots slot features. Jugg would soak up a massive amount of damage (I also suggest making riot and jugg far more rare and unbuyable) 5 hearts a total of 5 times. You will however be unable to use pains or medkits (as in real life it would be impossible to properly do while wearing the armor. As well, you will no longer be able to use special pants and boots slot features. And a slowing of your movement speed a bit more then riot.

    3. GUNS. My suggestion is to make guns a little bit more rare. Making people run around with mostly melees for a majority of the time, like... How an actual apocalypse would play out. Make guns do a -lot- more damage, give them ranges based on type, meaning people would no longer snipe with the spas. Lower overall shotgun damage, make every other gun deal a bit more damage, headshots deal INSANE damage, and overall make heavy weapons do a -lot- of damage to players hit in the back.

    4. Add sneaking and up the danger of walkers... Ever since the removal of bites, walkers have been so easy it's honestly boring. My suggestion is to up the damage and speed of walkers. As well up their spawn rates. Another post already handled bites. And perhaps as another popular plugin once did. Add a stealth meter, when crouch walking you are in stealth, allowing you to sneak around walkers. Walking normally is a bit more loud, attracting walkers in a 6 block radius. Sprinting is a good deal louder, attracting in a 10 block radius, sprint jumping being intensely loud, attracting from an 18 block radius. As well walkers would have more health causing you to be unable to just one hit melee them, however backstabs would still work on them.

    I like all of these suggestions, I really do, but if we were to implement them they would have to be on a separate server as the community would tear us to shreds at the slightest change to their precious painkillers or combat system (not trying to anger anyone, but this is a fact).

    I liked when they had TMD-1 as pains could only be used like every 1.5 - 2 seconds and would heal 2 hearts per pain, those were actually balanced and good.
     
    @Anziety No. I'm trying to make it how it was. When it was FUN. Nowadays getting a kill has no satisfaction, nothing goes into it. As you aqquire everything immediately after. It's just mindless shooting, hell even walkers show no opposition. People who enjoy that should go play Cod/CS
