Note: I don't do lots of wars. When I do, I'm usually rockin' military and an M14 and sweeping up. Here's my personal tips to waging wars.
Weapons and Armor is completely up to you. Whether or not you wanna rock Riot with a Barrett and RPG or Jugg with a inven full of Legends is your call. Just go in knowing you might loose it.
Don't be the only person unless you're playing "sweep". Wars are usually in the range of 4 players per side, although I have been in 7v4v2v1 (guess who the 1 was ;P).
Painkillers: As much as I hate them, they are insanely effective. If you are in jugg you will NEED them. You're going to be a primary target unless someone else on your team is in jugg. If you are rolling solo you are going to need them. If you have a stack or more, chugging is a valid tactic. If you only have 32 or fewer, be sparing. Use one at a time, and duck behind a wall/corner to give yourself a chance to regen.
Give yourself an escape. Getting caught on the top floors/roof of any tower is the worst way to go. If you're up high, bring a car so you can run with a shield of protection and be able to dive off the roof without taking damage.
Bring Barbwire Cutters and a Pick/Axe/Crowbar: The most depressing thing that can happen is you're about to break in and Spas the crap out of the guys when you find the doorway blocked off and you cant get in.
Calling the War: Don't have your entire team cooped up in one building. Have a ranked player in another building/location so you have a safe tp-back.
Attacking the War: Make sure you know where the people are before rushing. They might say "War at Pool" and be in Apartments watching the street to pool. Be careful.
Playing Sweep: My favorite. If you are close, find a place where you can hide without being seen. Patience might be the hardest part of this. If you see the guys on the ground shooting at the Belport crane and you're in the storage building... just wait. The last thing you wanna do is attract attention. Wait for someone to die from either Attackers or Callers. Then start shooting at the other people when they arnt ready for it.
