    PUNISHMENT INFORMATION

I've seen many people scamming recently. And I thought that this post would be helpful to prevent other players from being scammed, and protect others in the future. First of all, scamming is not allowed unless all the items in the transaction could've been traded through the safe-trading GUI, in which case it's your responsibility. Scamming can vary from a one week, to a permanent ban.

    REDIRECTION

If you were redirected to this page by a staff member in-game, please read this article regarding scamming, so that you can protect yourself from scamming in the future or find out any information that you might've asked in-game. This article will explain the following: How to report a scam, how to prevent scamming, safe trading, support tickets, additional information, punishments for scamming, reasons for why your ticket may have been closed, how to provide proof of scamming in a support ticket, how to provide proof of scamming on Imgur, disclaimers.

HOW DO I REPORT A SCAM?

The best way to report a scam, is to submit a support ticket, providing sufficient evidence to prove it. Like stated above, scamming is not allowed unless the items in the transaction could have been traded with the safe-trading GUI, so please don't create support tickets regarding in-game currency/item scams as they won't be continued and most likely closed. Try to explain the whole transaction in detail, so that no further questions are asked and the staff can process the ticket without hassle. Contacting staff in-game won't speed up the process in most cases, as most detail can be given in tickets. If your ticket wasn't answered within a week, then feel free to let a staff member know.

    HOW CAN I AVOID SCAMMING?

The best way to avoid being scammed is to take a video recording, or screenshot that can sufficiently prove the transaction, and the outcome. This will help prevent further questioning about any transactions from staff, and if possible, have a staff member watch the transaction take place (especially when it involves more than $20). Another good way to avoid being scammed is to use the safe-trading GUI (for in-game trades).

IS THERE A WAY TO TRADE SAFELY?

You can use /trade <player name> in-game on The Mining Dead, Mine Wars and Havoc Horizons. Please note that you need to be within 5 blocks of your partner to trade in TMD or MW. The safe-trading GUI allows you to add items into the trade from your inventory, and also in-game currency. The best way to avoid being scammed in the safe-trade GUI, is it always check that the person you are trading with has locked their trade, and the trade is correct. Once they have locked it, they cannot edit it without unlocking it. So make sure that every time the trade is locked, the offer is correct. After it has been locked, you can accept the trade.

    SUPPORT TICKET GUIDE

To create a well detailed, and correct support ticket about a scam, follow these steps:
    • Department: Player Reports
    • Priority: Depending on the scam, for $15 or less, I'd suggest you choose Medium. For higher amounts, choose High.
    • Minecraft Username: (Enter your username here)
    • Player(s) you are reporting: (Enter the scammer's username here)
    • Reason for report: Player Scamming ($)
    • Do you have evidence?: Unfortunately if you don't have any evidence of the scam, your report will most likely be invalid, however if you do have evidence choose Yes.
    • Description: Here, please explain everything about the scam, and evaluate your points. Including how much money you were scammed for, why do you think you were scammed, how the scam first started, and ended, what did the scammer tell you he would give and other important factors such as a link to video proof.
    • Attachments: Insert any proof, videos, screenshots, etc. which you have regarding the scam.
    EXAMPLE TICKET

The below ticket is an example of how a report should look like, and yield it's best reply:
    • Department: Player Reports
    • Priority: Medium
    • Minecraft Username: iHank
    • Player(s) you are reporting: Player123
    • Reason for report: Player Scamming ($35)
    • Do you have evidence: Yes
    • Description: Player123 told me he was selling his Minecraft account for $35, I told him that I would buy it. After a few messages, he gave me the username and password to the account so I could see if it works. I logged in, and everything was fine. He asked me to send him the money in /msg so I sent him $35 on PayPal, then when we finished the transaction he said "Thanks" and I never spoke to him since then. Half an hour later, the password was changed and I wasn't able to login anymore. I have a link to the whole scam video on YouTube:
(scam link). I also attached some photos of the messages and transactions that took place. Thank you for your attention, I hope you can sort this out.
HOW TO PROVIDE PROOF OF RULE-BREAKING

Below, you can find two ways to share your screenshots with staff, in-game and in a support ticket. If you've recently reported someone, you may be asked to provide proof in-game so it can be dealt with on the spot. The best way to do this is by uploading the screenshot to Imgur and sending a link to the staff. In a support ticket, you should add proof to your report/case for better chances of it being solved.

    File destination: %appdata% > .minecraft > screenshots
At the bottom of the description page in the support ticket form, there is a button which allows you to attach files:

    lcF7NRw.png

In the navigation bar, type in %appdata%, then click .minecraft.

    xR3Yzia.png

After that, click screenshots and select the correct one to attach.

    pqc4VYA.png

Once you've clicked screenshots, select the correct one and click Open.
    File destination: %appdata% > .minecraft > screenshots
A great way to share screenshots of rule-breaking to other staff, is through imgur.com:

This is very well done, except there will be a new rule with respect to scamming. It has yet to be listed, however we will make the change as soon as we can. If scamming has relevance to our store, it is punishable,

As far as I'm aware, there are messages in chat which prompt you to read the rules before playing, it's like a policy. By playing on the server you are accepting the policy and following it. Violating the policy results in punishments.

Even if people don't know the rules, most should have the knowledge to know certain things are not appropriate. Such as cursing in chat, disrespecting other players, or abusing glitchs.

Recently ViperNecromatic and I traded 10 million HH to get me VIP rank. Luckily it went smooth and no one got scammed.

Please read my reply before you share your two sense my friend. Rules can be turned ina way thst are still implicable to the actual rules, lots of rules such as 10 warns in a week or 5 mutes in a week should be added in the so and so "OFFICIAL HAVOCMC RULES" According to nick. I was muted for something that I didn't even know... I'm a very well known player on havoc and yes I'm salty at times and toxic but who isn't when the other person is making fun of your race and trying to act funny? Staff need to get their act together and try to at least help the community. I get it... "their busy" but that's all I hear... your staff for a reason do your job or don't do it at all. - Pawndah

If you didn't know the rules, that's your fault and no one else's. If you think the punishment was too hard, appeal if you want. Putting it in a public thread isn't really gonna improve your odds.

Also, what does this have to do with scam prevention?

Well, if the rules are "terrible" ,to use your wording, why would the server be successful? If you read the whole rules page it states "staff members can punish for rules not listed". Which is a saying they can use their own initiative. The rules are good, but they do need their own tab so people that are as impaired as you can find them. https://havocmc.net/rules/

Staff need to get their act together

Already addressed this before. "The amount of tickets they get submitted per day is insane, the amount of player support that was given and the amount of chat moderation I had to do was stupidly high. But even though all of these factors are off putting I worked my *** off for this server and I'm sure the current staff team do otherwise they wouldn't be staff. " If your going to be "toxic" please come with actual evidence and reasoning. And a staff member doesn't do their job, get evidence and report them as they clearly don't deserve to be staff.

Complaining about the rules being trash (which I more or less agree with you) isn't gonna solve anything. I don't know the details beyond what you said, so I wont say anything else besides trying to hijak a thread wont solve your problem.
