P90 - 3.0 Damage - Tier 4
M4 - 4.0 Damage - Tier 1
Vector - 5.0 Damage - Tier 5
All of these guns are effectively very similar, but why is there such a gap in the SMGs? Why are they so much worse than the ARs?
Theoretically all of these guns should be able to kill you in one shot if this were real. We can acknowledge that. SMGs and ARs in TMD are effectively the same, Full Auto, 30-40 round mags, similar reload time. Why make two separate but similar categories and make one so much worse than the other? Story time.
The year is 2015. TMD is played on 1.7, Atlanta is half the size but twice as popular, Fort Garrison exists, and melee weapons are tiered 1-11 (woah). But this is also the time of...
"Shift right click with a sharp weapon to amputate".
Bites. For those of who you don't know, when you USED to get hit by a zombie, you had a chance to get bit, making you amputate either your arm or leg. If it was the leg, you got permanent slowness. This could be remedied by a prosthetic leg, which gave you speed back but took away that armor slot. Or, you could lose your arm, which took away your ability to shoot Snipers, Specials, LMGs, and Assault Rifles. You could still use Shotguns, Pistols, and SMGs. This is where I think the difference comes from. SMGs were dumbed down ARs that could still be used if you only had one hand. This secondary class of full autos still gave you midrange weapons to work with if you had to amputate.
Now that TMD has outgrown the biting system, the SMGs have remained dumb versions of the ARs, except they have no special use.
What do you guys think? Do the SMGs need buffed? Do they need removed all together? Or should the biting system be brought back for their sake?
