This is my opinion. Don't witch hunt me.

I've seen at least three helpers with under 250 kills (and below 1000 walker kills too).

This isn't fair. If the staff member has no previous knowledge of the game and how it is played, how are they expected to do their job properly? A helper should be able to answer questions regarding the server as well as its staff, and a "virgin player" may not be able to perform the same duties as well as, say, Beastyhardy (who has 14,000 kills and counting).

This post is not in any means to criticize staff with low stats. That's why I haven't named names. However, if staff wants it's peak efficiency, the staff must have more in game experience.

    Just my thoughts.

I completely understand your concerns, but I also see it from another view. If a Helper knows everything there is to know about Haoc Horizons and Mine Wars and have everything else required to do the job effectively, then why should they be restricted from being accepted simply because they have less than 150 kills on The Mining Dead? Or if someone knows a lot about TMD and has great stats but they have rarely played Mine Wars, why should they be restricted from being accepted?

We accept staff based on a lot of variables. One of these is gameplay. If someone has 15 hours of gameplay, clearly they won't be accepted as they likely wouldn't know the mechanics of the game as well as someone with 1 week+ of gameplay. There's also the matter of what servers staff prefer before they're accepted. Recently a lot of the staff applications we've received have had Havoc Horizons listed as the server that the applicant devotes most of their time to. If someone is playing HH and know the mechanics of it well, then they should still be able to to be accepted as staff.

When you get accepted and you've learnt everything you need to in order to moderate heavily populated servers, we try to encourage our staff to moderate the most heavily populated servers so that the majority of players can receive the help they need. Chat offences are the same over all servers, so that isn't a problem. However, answering and helping the players is different. Although most of he questions asked are the same, so if the Helpers doesn't know the answer then they can ask other staff and then be able to answer that question as many times as needed in the future. Also, most of the answers needed to respond to player's questions are easily found or just common knowledge. For example, if a player asks how to get to a safezone, a Helper can easily direct them to the /map or ask if they'd like a teleport. If they were to look further into it, they'd be able to add "or you can /suicide and type /sz from spawn if you have $100."

With the "15 hours of gameplay", I'd easily could be a Helper if I wanted to. I get like 15 hours of gameplay everyday. LOL

I don't feel as though a lack of player kills would necessarily indicate a person's ability to help players. In regards to my own amount of player kills, it's incredibly low simply because PVP isn't exactly where my interests lay. Up until about a month ago, all of my game time for the server for the past year or so has been on TMD-3, so I've put more effort into getting almost 25k walker kills than I would put into player kills. However, I don't personally believe that that choice negatively impacts my abilities to help out players across the server as I try to spend time on each section. I can definitely understand where your concern on the matter can come into play, but a lack of player kills doesn't always directly equate to a lack of experience with the server and its workings.

You can tell if a new staff member doesn't know much about TMD or other game modes by what they say in chat to answer someone's question. Stats can't say much really but of course like 0 player kills and walker kills is uh well a clear sign but as more under 1000 kills to be honest by my second month I didn't hit 1000 walker kills LOL cuz I never killed them, but what I mean by all of it is just watch what they say in chat to answer questions you'll know :3 but that's just what I do

I mentioned walker kills as well. High walker kills and low player indicated a mainly tmd-3/4 player.

I'm saying if you have low amounts of both. It's possible you just sit in chat and don't PLAY THE GAME, but very unlikely.

I see what you're getting at now, understood. I respect your view of this.
