TLDR; Berx needs to be more accessible to close range pvp and stop the ease of spawning with a barrett and getting x amount of kills.
Well instead of just throwing complaints onto the forums like I see many people are, I will do my very best to constructively criticize the new map and offer some suggestions to make it more pvp friendly.
Below is analysis of the old pvp spots I used, skip if you want to go straight to suggestions.
I honestly only ever pvped on the old map in two or sometimes three locations. Berxley Safezone, Mallowbridge Safezone and Atlanta. All three had their advantages and disadvantages and enough variety in play style that I was pretty content with them as pvp locations.
Berxley was enough of a hilly area that you could not be picked off to easily from someone more than 20 - 30 blocks away and it had the vehicles and crates in the front that allowed for close combat pvp. If you were to sit on the hill and snipe, you had an advantage because you had the clear vantage point over people but, were heavily exposed from just sitting up there. All in all Old Berx was a very simple spot to just go to and get into a couple of gunfights.
Mallowbridge leaned a lot more towards close range pvp, often spas fights and ducking in and out of cover from on top of the little convenience store that you could jump onto from the grey building. If someone was to take a position towards Foxworth Military Base, they could get a view of the top of the store as well as much of the gas station as well at the expense of being very out in the open. Most fights at Mallow, regardless of the armor you wore, would take anywhere from 3 to 20 seconds at any point purely because of the closeness of the players and the power of the guns. I always enjoyed pvp here as I love just running and gunning with an AK/M60.
Atlanta. This is a whole other beast as it had many different kinds of pvp involved with it. Usually it would only be two teams on any given rooftop/skyscraper taking pot shots at each other with barretts until one of them got hit in succession enough that they died and then tp'd back. Or one team would get fed up with this and take their team straight in with a rush and try to blitz through before the defending team could stop their momentum. Depending on the building this usually either led to peak a boo matches in pool or games of chicken in buildings like Grady where you could easily fight from either side of the roof. Atlanta offered all kinds of pvp, mainly barrett, and all in all was the go to spot for people who wanted to have a little bit of gun play.
End of analysis
Now if you read all of that, I commend you but let me explain why I did. The new map has pretty much nullified this for me. Berxley is too big and flat, that now any moron with a barrett can just random tp and kill me from behind. Every time I go to the other two safezones I never find anyone. And Atlanta is such a trek from Berxley that I just don't want to spend the time just to get over there.
Berxley needs to be more hilly or needs to have more debris scattered so that a variety of pvp can come back to it. The current state of it is just spawn with kit assassin, random tp and kill someone from behind. I know that this is not a suggestion to fix pvp as a whole, but for one of the major pvp spots on the server I feel making it have more variety is necessary to keep the pvp balanced and fun.
Atlanta I do not think can be optimized for pvp as it currently stands. It is just too big and too far from Berxley.
In conclusion, I do not profess to have all of the answers. Just a couple reasons as to why the old pvp spots that I frequented were enjoyable and a simple change to Berx to hopefully make it pvp accessible again.
