Being able to check for an unclaimed base from anywhere in the world makes unclaimed bases get claimed quickly by rich people who can afford to wait and watch for the chance. It should require a bit of exploration to find bases.

Using a Compass to point to unclaimed bases now only points to any unclaimed bases within 1-2k blocks, not to any base on the map.

This would make people actually look for unclaimed bases, instead of instantly knowing if a base was up for grabs.

    Yes

    That's a much better idea
But isn't the whole point of the compass to help new people find a base, much simpler and quicker?
When new players get to that base, they often are unable to claim it. As opposed to the slumlord millionaire who sits in berx until he sees a war or an unclaimed base, he can definitely afford to dart out and buy it real quick.

Making people have to look for bases a bit increases the chances that people who still really need a base will take the time to find one. It will make finding a base more dependent on travel/exploration, which takes more effort but is good for immersion.

Bruh who "really needs" a base? All it is is extra storage, and even then others can still loot it and steal your stuff. Most newer players are better off saving their money to buy better weapons with, and using the secure storage that vault gives. When you are first starting off, you need to hold on to anything useful you can get, not throw it all in a super expensive base and hope someone with millions of dollars doesnt decide to raid it. The only people who may "need" it are the more stacked players, who have lots of armor and guns just laying around (which are the people who typically claim the bases as of now)
