  • Yet another poll of mine on Proximity VOIPs like BF2-PRs Mumble

So in essence do you think adding a Proximity based VOIP to TMDs servers is worth while?

So yea basically open source VOIP systems like Mumble for Project Reality BF2 allow players to talk to one another based on how close they are to each other IE Positional Audio as its known.

I believe this kind of voice chat is far more suitable than the current team speak as at least with Mumble you would be able to effectively communicate even with players who have no mics as they would still be able to hear you provided you packaged Mumble or some other suitable VOIP software as a officially supported server side mod.

Also a proximity based voice chat in of itself would be a literal game changer in terms of how players interact opening up new possibilities when it comes to coordinating with your friends and clan members or in general just surviving by being able to form ad-hock teams with random survivors on the fly with out having to waste time typing in chat and being incredibly vulnerable while at it.

It is kind of unneeded at this stage of the game. Staff are looking towards other things and I fear it's gonna be buried on the list of other stuff

great idea, i know another game on steam that uses this. its very fun, and i think would be great in mining dead, hellnight, and possibly minewars.
