Walls can be exploded with C4, Rockets, from an RPG, and grenades, from a grenade launcher. A detail description of how bases work and specific details on wall tiering and health can be found here.

Then that’s a bug... did you try shooting them at the gate? Grenades can be thrown at the gates to do damage as well.

Edit: I just verified that they do damage walls. Same thing with the grenades and moltovs.
