first and foremost the server is heading rapidly in the direction of its death stages. I really do hope that changes, but with each thing that happens, the people on top dig further down in to the servers grave. I have held off my direct opinion for as long as I can.
@IgnitingIce @Jacobg1998 you guys are simply running in circles with the updates. Pick a direction and stick to it because for months the server has darted from "fair" pvp based on cover, to "war friendly" pvp based on fast clicking and combos. Jugg being buffed, wait now it is Nerfed. pain times are increased, actually pains are back to .1 seconds. walkers are buffed to add a challange, no lets actually nerf them back to being less dangerous than a lizard.
A look at the seasons update announcement. so the contest is going well, but what of the "bi weekly updates"? every two weeks for those that were about to google it. in the thread announcing seasons updates there is this https://gyazo.com/7c8df702eaa75f0f708cf824bc3b896d . By now there should have been three of these updates, yet as far as i can tell, there have been none.
Mine Wars On July 3rd @Jacobg1998 announced "minewars 2.0" would be coming later in the summer, complete with pictures of creatures and new buildings found here https://havocmc.net/threads/our-plans-for-the-summer.6203/ .
On July 31st it was announced that minewars 2.0 would be delayed.
As of early September, mine wars can no longer be accessed.
I assume this is going to gradually vanish like map maker?
Map Maker lets revisit that now shall we? when i was helper back in January, map maker was removed "temporarily" due to glitches. the promise was given that map maker would return and our maps would even be saved! as seen here. https://gyazo.com/3f86d66f587bd4ef6d738658e3c7d082 - to prioritize on minewars 2.0 development. Just a few weeks ago map maker chat was removed from the discord- I somehow doubt the gamemode will be returning.
Havoc Horizens it was announced on this thread https://havocmc.net/threads/our-plans-for-the-summer.6203/ quote "Havoc Horizons will not be a central focus for the server moving forward, however it will still be accessible with the server selector menu after the update. This means that we do not plan on having any resets or releasing anymore updates for Horizons in the foreseeable future. Simply put, there are hundreds of Skyblock servers out there which are essentially the same gamemode as Havoc Horizons, and we don’t feel that we can provide anything unique in this gamemode moving forward as we feel we can provide with some of our other more original gamemodes." That's fair, but all the same- another one bites the dust.
Hellnight in the thread announcing bi-weekly updates, its mentioned that hellnight updates would be top priority. 3 update cycles in and still nothing as far as im aware. To the owner's credit, you have been very active playing with players on hellnight- until that abruptly stopped.
Tmd honestly, im not going to go down the rabbit hole here. Its too much digging and everyone knows the gist already. the updates have been hopping around more than a kangaroo on cocaine and it is obviously not working. in fact after all those updates, all those "im quitting posts" , all of that work, we are back where we began a few months ago, only smaller, weaker, and more divided.
Tmd classic tmd classic is "dead" due to only select players using it on a regular basis.
A united path forward
here is what i recommend implement 4-5 main tmd servers.
2 of these servers should be pvp with the same map that the build team works so hard to build.
1 of these servers should have the same pvp mechanics as tmd classic. this server would be the "war" server.
The second pvp server would be more like the pvp changes where cover was needed to survive and pain spamming is non existent.
the third would be the tmd pve server as we know it now. one thing about pve players, we are not super picky about stats of weapons and such, they just want them to work.
the fourth server would eventually become the tmd realism server(s) pvp and pve servers. these would have the healing times at high levels, with the buffed walkers as well as other realism features that have been suggested in the past.
I will have very little time come next week to deal with any of this as my college quarter starts so thats my baseline opinion on where the server is going.
for those of you that are thinking "too long didnt read" heres the gist. the management of the server quite bluntly needs to get their **** together and lead the server in a forward direction, not in circles.
