The entire MM mode would’ve needed to be recoded, and it would’ve taken quite a while; they decided to just remove it, but their intentions originally were to fix it until they realized all of the errors in the coding and such. Also, I believe (not 100%) that the owners would like to pay attention to their main attraction(s) to the server, which explains why HH won’t be having any updates anytime soon as well ._.
I think the owners should make a post about this.
if their intentions were to return it, and then they found out that was not able to happen, they should have been straight up, not waited over 6 months, then quietly deleted mm discord and not say a word on it.
something called "getting ahead of X" bad news is a reality. **** happens. how a team, group or person handles this news says alot. they should have, as soon as it was clear mm would not be able to return made a post expressing their reasons behind the takedown, and stressing their apologies. hell, opening the server, even in its glitchy state to allow people to recover their maps would have been a good step in the right direction.
with news breaking there is a very short period called the "shock" period. this is essentially the person telling the new's only chance to say what needs to be said before others start creating their own narratives. in this case, this is not just a messup, as it would have been if the owners were straight up, its a coverup,a lie, breaking of trust between player and staff, and another blow to the overall reputation to the server.
now that map maker is poof, among other things, i think as well as im sure others do, that an explanation on what happened is overdue. it happened, and nothing short of its return can change that. be honest.
im going to use an analogy.
you owners are like the executives of a startup, funded by investors. these investors take a share of the company in exchange for granting you money.
everything's great. the company makes money and the investors get to go along for the ride.
now lets say you suddenly shut down three key projects and consolidate to a single one. lets also say that project is not clearly succeeding (certainty is something investors like). the investors will be nervous. they feel like they are partners in the success or failure of this company and like to be informed. in bad times the execs may call an investor meeting, to explain certain things happening. this is typically done on a quarterly basis for companies. if the shutdowns i said above happened and the excecs didnt show for the meeting to explain. thats a big red flag. some may pull out (sell their stock and withdraw their support).
@IgnitingIce @Jacobg1998 quite simply, the players are your investors and you are responsible for them leaving or staying on top of maintaining and growing the company (the server) one cannot exist without the other. you need to make the decisions in the background, im sure we all get that, but you also need to be present- to explain these things to those that support you. as mangled fury proves. former friends make the most dangerous enemies.
