Before anyone reads this, just know:
This does not apply to all staff; several are as helpful as possible and do their job well.
There are however a few that simply like to throw around their position and/or clearly don't know how to handle situations.
I have tried to join staff twice.
Twice with the hopes to not only remove more cheaters from the server faster, but to ultimately improve how players view the staff.
Why would I be a good fit for staff?
Who knows, most staff members are not around enough to get to know them.
Some are responsible, getting a notification of a problem and investigating before acting; while some read a notification and act immediately with no proof or thought.
A perfect example would be my getting muted in a hell night lobby.
Several players including myself were talking about getting teams together. I asked a known female player to join our team. My words being along the lines of "Join us, this teams a sausage fest".
Knowing the player to be alright with terms much worse than that.
In fact this player proceeded to use the exact same term, and other players in the lobby used more colorful language while this discussion was happening.
And yet; a staff that will remain nameless joined the lobby, muted only me, and left just as quickly.
Now I ask: How was that fairly or properly handled?
After my muted ended; I was in the hell night lobby again, discussing my mute with a teammate.
The discussion was in no way insulting, it was a civil conversation suggesting that the situation was poorly handled.
A player in that lobby claimed to have this staff member at beck and call through Skype, and actually called them to the lobby regardless of statements that I did not care.
Strangely enough staff member quickly arrived. So I took the opportunity to ask if this staff could check chat logs to find out what actually happened, to which they answered they could.
I then asked why I was immediately muted without as much as a warning, since that would have been a more suitable response. The staff quickly left without a reply.
Quick to improperly punish, quick to bail on discussion. Unprofessional and counterproductive, This is how staff are generally viewed.
This is why I wished to join and do better.
And yet I get responses like this:
Dissing staff? When I am trying to join them? I think not.
Show me an example. Show me any proof of your accusation before this post.
The only time I have talked down about staff members is privately; in tickets, or directly to higher level staff. And those tickets were of staff members actually using the cheats they are supposed to be helping remove from the game. Those people are either no longer staff, or are no longer on the server.
Obviously those staff were caught in the act and removed. The question is why information of said reports is spread around.
Again; unprofessional and counterproductive.
Clearly the standards for staff need to be raised, and the applications handled by someone higher.
