My point of this post is (continued)
I will not blame gameplay alone on the death of the serer. Theres a lot of loose gears.
But here's what I WILL say regarding gameplay. The problem isn't that pains had a cooldown or not. It's that they tried to appease two different playstyles with one mode. I absolutely despise tanking. I want the game to require a different set of skills, because that framework is what I'm personally better at. I want shots to count. If you stick your neck out too far and get jumped and die, you deserve it. I don't believe pains should be there to save you for a poorly executed plan. But I know that there's a tanking meta that likes pains. So what should have happened is this, in my opinion.
Fix TMDC to be more like TMDOP but still have some of its current elements. Larger map, but nowhere near as big as TMDPVP. No parachutes. Safezones that allow Gate PvP. And yes, spam pains. But for those of us with my mindset, make TMDPVP more like TMDHardcore was. Maybe not that extreme, but at least separate it from TMDC. Making loot rare as hell. Fights will be low-loot/no-loot and much more intense as keeping your gear actually matters.
I cant blame gameplay entirely. But it was an element, and not like you sere saying Curbie. It scared both groups away. TMDC wasn't like TMDOP was, and it came out around the time with cooldown-pains. This scared a lot of the tanking-meta based mindsets away. Meanwhile, I was in heaven that they had a challenging mode out with TMDPVP. But then they decided to bring spam-pains back. This is what pushed me away (partly). From my standpoint, TMDC and TMDPVP are the same exact meta. They're redundant, and now theres no challenging mode for people like me.
