Hello, my name is Yove, some know me as PinkHorizion, I have been playing TMD since the glory days, and it's been a constant argument back and fourth between Old players (dubbed "OG's) and New players, staff, new staff, and so on, over how to revive, fix, or add to TMD.
The staff have made appeals to us, such as giving us TMDOP, when the new TMD was not so appreciated with the PVP it brought with it. (The delayed pain timers). And after releasing TMDOP, there was a time of little to no arguing with the staff. TMD even reached 700+ players again (which is quite a lot! considering TMD's old prime was around 1000-1200!). But as usual, other problems ensued, primarily the map being to big. The map, is amazing, the builders made a amazing one, but, it was to big, one issue was the spawn locations were to far apart, this will be the first problem I discuss.
Problem 1: Spawn locations need to be reverted back similarly to classic TMD's ones.
-If you do not remember, most spawn locations forced players to EVENTUALLY interact with each other, rather than limiting the possibilities of even finding a single player. This is a simple fix, and an idea can be re-creating the "noob towns" that were in the old TMD map.
Off from that, the map will be the next problem I discuss.
Problem 2: Potentially combine both the new map and old map, or completely revert to the old one.
-It is unlikely the map will be reverted anytime soon, thus, to limit the map size, put the newer builds from the new map into the old maps locations (such as the savior sanctuary, new safezones, possibly re add foxtrot, and add the new belport) etc. However, I'd advise keeping the old Atlanta. The old map, was said to be lost, this is incorrect, another user (yes, bare with me) Exo_HD, has it, and he is willing to give the map for free even without being unbanned.
Problem 3: Revert PVP.
-For the last time, we have ALL agreed that you should not change the pvp system of pains and medkits having to take time to use. Just revert it back (and while your at it, make pains right click again, for the love of god please).
Problem 4: Unban the players who contribute the money that keeps the server running
-*Cough Jahango* Giving donators who were banned second chances (or 3rd.... or 4th....) who >WERE NOT< banned for hacking, ddosing, etc. would greatly contribute to the servers cause.
Thats the 4 biggest problems I can think of right now, oh well. I hope this does not fall onto silent ears.
Cheers !
-Yove
My thoughts.
1. Safezones. I believe there should only be 5 safezones, MAYBE 6. One in each corner, one in the center, the 6th could be for rankers only somewhere where rankers usually are.
This can promote both PvP and exploration.
When a new player joins, they do not wish to travel TOO far from a safezone for supplies, only far enough to not get mobbed by players. Since the current safezones are in their current positions, which takes a sort of backwards C shape, it puts everyone in a position to only follow along the line, especially with Mallowbridge School and Berxley so close together. With the 5, we get each corner of the map covered for exploration, while each being in generally close proximity to the center to allow easy travel for pvp. They don't even have to be IN the corner, just take the general area. I have uploaded a picture to give a basic idea (crappy quality, I know).
Some changes would have to be made though, and I have reasons for them.
---Mallowbridge is in it's spot due to nostalgia, but at the same time no one from the old days really goes there unless they HAVE to. It's the home base for new players, allowing for easy access to Season 1 locations. Because the nostalgia is not being put to use, I say we can do with moving it.
---Viscocil makes a shift simply to help push things into the northwest corner, which is nothing but forest. More on that below.
---Berxley stays in the same general area, becomming the split between Atlanta and DC. It is THE PvP hotspot, and thus I will explain the next part.
---IF there were to be a 6th SZ, it should be a replacement of School. Not often used (everyone walks to atlanta from berx) it can be replaced with a safezone with, get this, Ranks Only. This will actually work with my idea for atlanta, and possibly make at least SOME OG's happy. More on that below. Also, it is close to berx which allows for easy PvP encounters.
---Something needs to be put up near Alex, or there is not enough use of that location for exploration. 'Nuff said. (personally I have an idea for Alexandria being a safezone like in the show, probs won't happen.)
---Sadly, my idea removes Brooks from the map. Unless you guys are willing to send it North East to help with exploration of the new season locations.
2. Map. I believe 3 things.
---1: there needs to be a 300 block extension around the map to allow for Season 9, 10 and so forth. Also, everything needs to be pushed west to make room for new seasons on the east side. That north west corner? FILL IT. I get that there are season 2 locations coming. Problem, it's a bunch of farms and maybe a town or two. I say scale down the farms (They take more space than necessary with their fields) so that things can be pushed over. And I don't mean cramp everything into the west, of course not. I mean make use of the emptiness and make people want to travel there. Everything from new seasons is being built on the east side, so make the space. Even if there is no 300 block extension, you can still push things over a bit.
---2: Atlanta. This has to do with the demands for the old map, and the addition of DC. Remake old atlanta map, but with the updated, more detailed buildings of now. Basically have the same layout of old atlanta. The baseball field would not be added, rather that is where the rank SZ (school) would be located. Saves space, anything cut from Atlanta get's placed in DC. This would make TWD fans and OG's alike happy.
---3: Give us a reason to explore. Even if it's one quest for traveling to each location, that would suffice.
3. PvP. Keep the usage time on pains and bandages, lower the usage time of med pack a little. Lower the damage of weapons. Keep armor where it is at. Keep health at 2 bars.
Reasons: Jugg tanking the front of a safezone, and jugg team sweeping the safezone trail, made new players hate playing due to always dying and not even being allowed to explore a little or find supplies. I get that there is PvE, but at the same time new players will never join PvP if there is no chance to improve their skill. If people will not allow them to get better, even insulting them for how bad they are, they will leave and the server will lose more and more popularity. THAT IS WHAT DAMAGED THE SERVER THIS TIME AROUND. Toxic players would slaughter everyone new and insult them for it, and then insult them more if they themselves were killed, thus there is no feeling of reward for the succeeding player, only a feeling of being hated. Having a new, balanced PvP allows everyone the chance to prove themselves, and I believe if we lower the weapons it will seriously help everyone for the better. Jugg tanking now belongs in The Mining Dead, Classic Game Mode. Get with the program or go home. I also honestly believe that a new rule should be added, which is a mute for constant belitteling of someone for dying/not dying in a fight. Grow a pair dude, shape up, leave the kid alone, be the example.
---Also, I honestly believe we need immunity when we log in, at least 10 seconds due to texture pack loading. 1 second immunity for warp/tp/rtp.
4. Ban Repeal. I agree with allowing those with lesser "crimes" back for ONE more chance, then being banned forever if caught breaking serious bannable rules again. Rules are rules, get with the program or be kicked out.
