I feel a lot better about this update but im still not happy with some of the things, For instance I would love Atlanta to be left alone, its more realistic, like the show, areas like prison are mostly used for pvp while Atlanta is more for looting, please make zombies "scary" and bring back hordes!!! It would be bad for old computers and perhaps only put it on 2 of the TMD servers but it would be amazing. Its a shame that features like the tiger and riot shields wont be added, I was very exited for those, Say if for a future update of Minecraft, they made a more stable server thing, Would you possibly upgrade due to the fact that you very well might loose players looking for a TMD server when its 1.15 or something and we are still on 1.8, If these things were to happen, Would the old ideas of having shields, duel wielding and a tiger come back? Personally I like it how it is, Its more realistic and if people want to fight, they say it in chat. There is one thing that would make me extremely happy tho. Fear The Walking Dead Locations. Now I know you were working on a map that got scrapped, But think about it, the current map is 2 states merged into one, Why not add Mexico, cmon we are not Trump himself xD. It would bring people to the coast massively, The hotel will bring some new life into the map along with harts-field, The community's there would be amazing, The Wars there would be fantastic with snipers and melee on the ground, Sorry I rambled on a bit, Please, if you mess with Atlanta, dont mess with the height of the buildings. And for god sake fix the ally and enemy teams system xD. Thanks for reading
Herds were not possible with 1.9+, so with downgrading to 1.8, that luckily makes herds, and a lot of other stuff now possible on the server. I'm not sure of the tiger is a complete no no yet, but we'll have to wait and see. Atlanta is being redesigned and tailored to fit the pvp gameplay of the old map. Which would mean shorter buildings, more interriors, and more back and forth rooftop sniping. The problem with adding Mexico is it doesn't fit well with the new map, we simply don't have room for it and we wouldn't have much of a spot to put it. As of right now we have no plans for FTWD but if it rises in popularity as the show progressres and gets a higher players interest it can happen someday. I'm not saying it's not possible, but something like that wouldn't happen until a long time from where were at right now.

Wait, what if the map was only changed for the pvp servers? But servers like TMD-3 (Which is the biggest roleplaying server, I think), can keep the old map since you can't pvp there any way, and most of the people there want the realism?

Me and pretty much all the active builders are wanting something like that, keeping the current map on at least one extra server since we worked so hard on it and don't want to see it go. So then the people that like it including us can still play on it, but we're not in charge over what happens there, and there might not be a big enough majority to get considered. But it's a definite possibility, that I'm willing to try and work something out so we can all be happy.

I really hope we can do that! I think this should be brought on, at least on TMD-3 because that server can get to 75-100 people on at a time. (Usually around 75.) It would be cool to at least do that, since the new map would be pvp based, and you can't pvp on it so there wouldn't be a point. Thanks! :)

Hello everyone. I'm making this post to let everybody know that we are now hard at work on bring TMD back to its best days. It may take around a month, but the end result will be worth it. Changes are as follows.

    Reorganized Map
The builders are making a reorganized map that is 6,000 x 6,000 blocks, similar to the old one. This should cut down travel times and allow us to have more zombies and players, so there will be more action. The map will use mostly the same builds as the old map.

Atlanta - The builders will be making a lot of changes to Atlanta. Firstly, it will be a lot smaller. Although awesome, the current Atlanta lacks a center of attention and conflict. We will also be removing a lot of the massive skyscrapers and scaling them down so they are similar to the previous map.

Old Locations - We are also adding back some revamped classic locations. For example, Hartsfield will be back.

We think this new map should allow us to have all the fun gameplay elements of the old map, while keeping the cool builds from the new one.

    1.8 Support
Minecraft 1.9 is inherently laggy. Both the server and client run a lot worse than 1.8 did. As a result, we are switching our server version to 1.8. Don't worry, you will still be able to connect with 1.9-1.11. Switching to 1.8 will allow the following changes:

    More Players and Zombies
We should be able to reach 150 players on a server, and perhaps we could have some massive Hell Nights. More on this later.

While making these changes we will scale down to four servers, two for PVP and two for PVE. We are still deciding on weather we are having an OP server separate, or having it as one of the PVP servers.

Also, if it wasn't clear earlier, no reset would occur.

What is everybody's opinion on this?

*Update: No melees would need to be removed.*

Also, congratz to Peach on Sr Mod.
First of all, your grammar is horrible - "we are still deciding on weather we are having an OP server separate" proper use is "whether" and also "we are hard at work on bring TMD back to its best days" proper use is "We are hard at work on bringing TMD back to it's best days" But I also strongly suggest investing more time in your other servers such as Havoc Horizons, owing to it's immense popularity and it's potential. Map maker also needs a lot of attention (as i mentioned in a few other posts). Overall I believe it would be a good choice to allot more time into further expanding your other servers.

Good updates I agree with them. Only problem is that I was very hyped about the 1.8 until I saw good stuff being removed. So I guess I will stick with 1.9. But still I love these updates and I agree that it will attract more players.

it is harder to have wars and communities but it also brings a decent feel of realism you couldn't in real life go to one location and end up there 3 minutes later the lengthy roads and highways that we have on the new map is just what the map needed.
We have to remember this is minecraft! not real life... not everyone wants to hold their W key down for 20 minutes just to go to one place. A smaller map is better for everyone.

The commenter you were responding to, said "in real life"....perhaps they should have said "in TheWalkingDead" world".....

It is quite clear that it took a day to get from the prison to woodbury....took a couple of hours 'driving' to get from alex to hilltop....took a couple of months from terrminus to alex....

You have to remember not everyone is here to spawn in berx, just to run 120secs to get back in the war in atlanta....
<btw: what war in atlanta...never saw that in TWD>

This entire servers point was to bring about a simulation of the world of TWD....it is the pvpers whining about their precious battlefield of old atlanta that is causing the issue....you all won...they are moving backwards to suit you all....so let the people who enjoy the experience of the world of TWD gripe....you will have back your short run and low rooftops, and your spam clicking soon enough..... <i am really surprised no one has asked about pains and un-nerfing jugg yet>

How about basically making the old map a little bit bigger better (using the buildings from the new map, re positioning them in the place old atlanta was back then. I just think it would make it easier to get to places in atlanta,

I reckon making the map a bit smaller is a great idea, however downgrading to 1.8 would remove a lot of things too... such as blocks, cameos.. etc. As for Atlanta, I really think it should be given a chance, I mean the school SZ isnt even open yet ;p, although maybe moving some buildings around in the new Atlanta is a good idea, scaling down some towers would be good too and making more towers/buildings have roof access, just like old Atlanta ;), I think also leave the current Atlanta suburban areas and the school sz positioning as it is now, its close to CDC as well so thats going to be a big hit spot when the school sz opens, the suburban houses also make very good cover (and good roleplay houses for roleplay lovers). When Pool is fixed up as well that could be a good war spot too, Grady's too, just maybe spread those 3 areas out in Atlanta so theyre not all bunched up and close together, so there are multiple big war areas. I and a lot of other people also like Atlanta's current size, it makes it easier also for newbies to run around explore and hide, if its like the old Atlanta, they can get found easily and just get bombarded with people stronger than them, so maybe just move some buildings around and such, add some, redo a couple, instead of redoing the whole thing, its easier ;).

Nickk said camos will stay, but some of the blocks from versions over 1.8 will be gone (meaning some of the builds will be less detailed due to missing blocks)

nothing will be less detailed, we have alternatives to anything that will be missing (only roads and lighting)

ArmenTheHeli The reason rooms were strangely lit before is because the item frames did not work correctly, all the end rods were placed in lamps or some form of light source but the item frames did not upload so that is why you dont see these light objects in the map. Hopefully next update the item frames will work and we will have lamps and ceiling lights in Live servers.
